42:5
Thus saith G-d the Lord, He that created the heavens, and stretched them forth, He that spread forth the earth and that which cometh out of it,
He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
Koh-amar ha'El Adonay bore hashamayim venoteyhem roka ha'arets vetse'etsa'eyha noten neshamah la'am aleyha veruach laholechim bah.
כֹּֽה־ אָמַר הָאֵל ׀ יְהוָה בּוֹרֵא הַשָּׁמַיִם וְנוֹטֵיהֶם רֹקַע הָאָרֶץ וְצֶאֱצָאֶיהָ נֹתֵן נְשָׁמָה לָעָם עָלֶיהָ וְרוּחַ לַהֹלְכִים בָּֽהּ׃
42:6
I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and have taken hold of thy hand, and kept thee, and set thee for a covenant of the people,
for a light of the nations;
Ani Adonay kraticha vetsedek ve'achzek beyadecha ve'etsorcha ve'etencha livrit am le'or goyim.
אֲנִי יְהוָה קְרָאתִיךָֽ בְצֶדֶק וְאַחְזֵק בְּיָדֶךָ וְאֶצָּרְךָ וְאֶתֶּנְךָ לִבְרִית עָם לְאוֹר גּוֹיִֽם׃
42:7
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.
Lifkoach eynayim iverot lehotsi mimasger asir mibeyt kele yoshvey choshech.
לִפְקֹחַ עֵינַיִם עִוְרוֹת לְהוֹצִיא מִמַּסְגֵּר אַסִּיר מִבֵּית כֶּלֶא יֹשְׁבֵי חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
42:8
I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.
Ani Adonay hu Shemi uchvodi le'acher lo-eten utehilati lapsilim.
אֲנִי יְהוָה הוּא שְׁמִי וּכְבוֹדִי לְאַחֵר לֹֽא־ אֶתֵּן וּתְהִלָּתִי לַפְּסִילִֽים׃
42:9
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Harishonot hineh va'u vachadashot ani magid beterem titsmachnah ashmia etchem.
הָרִֽאשֹׁנוֹת הִנֵּה־ בָאוּ וַֽחֲדָשׁוֹת אֲנִי מַגִּיד בְּטֶרֶם תִּצְמַחְנָה אַשְׁמִיע1 אֶתְכֶֽם׃
42:10
Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth; ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles,
and the inhabitants thereof.
Shiru l'Adonay shir chadash tehilato miketseh ha'arets yordey hayam umelo'o iyim veyoshveyhem.
שִׁירוּ לַֽיהוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ תְּהִלָּתוֹ מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ יוֹרְדֵי הַיָּם וּמְלֹאוֹ אִיִּים וְיֹשְׁבֵיהֶֽם׃
42:11
Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of Sela exult, let
them shout from the top of the mountains.
Yis'u midbar ve'arav chatserim teshev kedar yaronu yoshvey sela merosh harim yitsvachu.
יִשְׂאוּ מִדְבָּר וְעָרָיו חֲצֵרִים תֵּשֵׁב קֵדָר יָרֹנּוּ יֹשְׁבֵי סֶלַע מֵרֹאשׁ הָרִים יִצְוָֽחוּ׃
42:12
Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare His praise in the islands.
Yasimu l'Adonay kavod utehilato ba'iyim yagidu.
יָשִׂימוּ לַֽיהוָה כָּבוֹד וּתְהִלָּתוֹ בָּאִיִּים יַגִּֽידוּ׃
42:13
The Lord will go forth as a mighty man, He will stir up jealousy like a man of war; He will cry, yea, He will shout aloud,
He will prove Himself mighty against His enemies.
Adonay kagibor yetse ke'ish milchamot ya'ir kin'ah yaria af-yatsriach al-oyvav yitgabar.
יְהוָה כַּגִּבּוֹר יֵצֵא כְּאִישׁ מִלְחָמוֹת יָעִיר קִנְאָה יָרִיעַ אַף־ יַצְרִיחַ עַל־ אֹיְבָיו יִתְגַּבָּֽר׃
42:14
I have long time held My peace, I have been still, and refrained Myself; now will I cry like a travailing woman, gasping and panting at once.
Hechesheyti me'olam acharish et'apak kayoledah ef'eh eshom ve'esh'af yachad.
הֶחֱשֵׁיתִי מֵֽעוֹלָם אַחֲרִישׁ אֶתְאַפָּק כַּיּוֹלֵדָה אֶפְעֶה אֶשֹּׁם וְאֶשְׁאַף יָֽחַד׃
42:15
I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.
Achariv harim ugeva'ot vechol-esbam ovish vesamti neharot la'iyim va'agamim ovish.
אַחֲרִיב הָרִים וּגְבָעוֹת וְכָל־ עֶשְׂבָּם אוֹבִישׁ וְשַׂמְתִּי נְהָרוֹת לָֽאִיִּים וַאֲגַמִּים אוֹבִֽישׁ׃
42:16
And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, in paths that they knew not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them,
and rugged places plain. These things will I do, and I will not leave them undone.
Veholachti iverim bederech lo yada'u bintivot lo-yade'u adrichem asim machshach lifneyhem la'or uma'akashim lemishor eleh

וְהוֹלַכְתִּי עִוְרִים בְּדֶרֶךְ לֹא יָדָעוּ בִּנְתִיבוֹת לֹֽא־ יָדְעוּ אַדְרִיכֵם אָשִׂים מַחְשָׁךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם לָאוֹר וּמַֽעֲקַשִּׁים לְמִישׁוֹר אֵלֶּה הַדְּבָרִים עֲשִׂיתִם וְלֹא עֲזַבְתִּֽים׃
42:17
They shall be turned back, greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images: ‘Ye are our G-ds.’
Nasogu achor yevoshu voshet habotechim bapasel ha'omerim lemasechah atem Eloheynu.
נָסֹגוּ אָחוֹר יֵבֹשׁוּ בֹשֶׁת הַבֹּטְחִים בַּפָּסֶל הָאֹמְרִים לְמַסֵּכָה אַתֶּם אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
42:18
Hear, ye deaf, and look, ye blind, that ye may see.
Hachershim shma'u veha'iverim habitu lir'ot.
הַחֵרְשִׁים שְׁמָעוּ וְהַעִוְרִים הַבִּיטוּ לִרְאֽוֹת׃
42:19
Who is blind, but My servant? Or deaf, as My messenger that I send? Who is blind as he that is wholehearted, and blind as the Lord's servant?
Mi iver ki im-avdi vecheresh kemal'achi eshlach mi iver kimeshulam ve'iver ke'eved Adonay.
מִי עִוֵּר כִּי אִם־ עַבְדִּי וְחֵרֵשׁ כְּמַלְאָכִי אֶשְׁלָח מִי עִוֵּר כִּמְשֻׁלָּם וְעִוֵּר כְּעֶבֶד יְהוָֽה׃
42:20
Seeing many things, thou observest not; opening the ears, he heareth not.
Ra'ot rabot velo tishmor pakoach oznayim velo yishma.
רַבּוֹת וְלֹא תִשְׁמֹר פָּקוֹחַ אָזְנַיִם וְלֹא יִשְׁמָֽע׃
42:21
The Lord was pleased, for His righteousness’ sake, to make the teaching great and glorious.
Adonay chafets lema'an tsidko yagdil torah veyadir.
יְהוָה חָפֵץ לְמַעַן צִדְקוֹ יַגְדִּיל תּוֹרָה וְיַאְדִּֽיר׃
42:22
But this is a people robbed and spoiled, they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses; they are for a prey, and none delivereth,
for a spoil, and none saith: ‘Restore.’
Vehu am-bazuz veshasui hafe'ach bachurim kulam uvevatey chela'im hocheba'u hayu lavaz ve'eyn matsil meshisah ve'eyn-omer hashav.
וְהוּא עַם־ בָּזוּז וְשָׁסוּי הָפֵחַ בַּֽחוּרִים כֻּלָּם וּבְבָתֵּי כְלָאִים הָחְבָּאוּ הָיוּ לָבַז וְאֵין מַצִּיל מְשִׁסָּה וְאֵין־ אֹמֵר הָשַֽׁב׃
42:23
Who among you will give ear to this? Who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
Mi vachem ya'azin zot yakshiv veyishma le'achor.
מִי בָכֶם יַאֲזִין זֹאת יַקְשִׁב וְיִשְׁמַע לְאָחֽוֹר׃
42:24
Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? Did not the Lord? He against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk,
neither were they obedient unto His law.
Mi-natan limeshisah Ya'akov veYisra'el levozezim halo Adonay zu chatanu lo velo-avu vidrachav haloch velo shame'u betorato.
מִֽי־ נָתַן יַעֲקֹב וְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְבֹזְזִים הֲלוֹא יְהוָה זוּ חָטָאנוּ לוֹ וְלֹֽא־ אָבוּ בִדְרָכָיו הָלוֹךְ וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ בְּתוֹרָתֽוֹ׃
42:25
Therefore He poured upon him the fury of His anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not, and it burned him,
yet he laid it not to heart.
Vayishpoch alav chemah apo ve'ezuz milchamah vatelahatehu misaviv velo yada vativ'ar-bo velo-yasim al-lev.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּךְ עָלָיו חֵמָה אַפּוֹ וֶעֱזוּז מִלְחָמָה וַתְּלַהֲטֵהוּ מִסָּבִיב וְלֹא יָדָע וַתִּבְעַר־ בּוֹ וְלֹא־ יָשִׂים עַל־ לֵֽב׃
43:1
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name,
thou art Mine.
Ve'atah koh-amar Adonay bora'acha Ya'akov veyotsercha Yisra'el al-tira ki ge'alticha karati veshimcha li-atah.
וְעַתָּה כֹּֽה־ אָמַר יְהוָה בֹּרַאֲךָ יַעֲקֹב וְיֹצֶרְךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל אַל־ תִּירָא כִּי גְאַלְתִּיךָ קָרָאתִי בְשִׁמְךָ לִי־ אָֽתָּה׃
43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire,
thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Ki-ta'avor bamayim itcha ani uvaneharot lo yishtefucha ki-telech bemo-esh lo tikaveh velehavah lo tiv'ar-bach.
כִּֽי־ תַעֲבֹר בַּמַּיִם אִתְּךָ־ אָנִי וּבַנְּהָרוֹת לֹא יִשְׁטְפוּךָ כִּֽי־ תֵלֵךְ בְּמוֹ־ אֵשׁ לֹא תִכָּוֶה וְלֶהָבָה לֹא תִבְעַר־ בָּֽךְ׃
43:3
For I am the Lord thy G-d, The Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour; I have given Egypt as thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
Ki ani Adonay Eloheycha Kedosh Yisra'el moshi'echa natati chofercha Mitsrayim Kush uSva tachteycha.
כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל מוֹשִׁיעֶךָ נָתַתִּי כָפְרְךָ מִצְרַיִם כּוּשׁ וּסְבָא תַּחְתֶּֽיךָ׃
43:4
Since thou art precious in My sight, and honourable, and I have loved thee; therefore will I give men for thee, and peoples for thy life.
Me'asher yakarta ve'eynay nichbadeta va'ani ahavticha ve'eten adam tachteycha ule'umim tachat nafshecha.
מֵאֲשֶׁר יָקַרְתָּ בְעֵינַי נִכְבַּדְתָּ וַאֲנִי אֲהַבְתִּיךָ וְאֶתֵּן אָדָם תַּחְתֶּיךָ וּלְאֻמִּים תַּחַת נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
43:5
Fear not, for I am with thee; I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Al-tira ki itecha ani mimizrach avi zar'echa umima'arav akabetseka.
אַל־ תִּירָא כִּי אִתְּךָ־ אָנִי מִמִּזְרָח אָבִיא זַרְעֶךָ וּמִֽמַּעֲרָב אֲקַבְּצֶֽךָּ׃
43:6
I will say to the north: ‘Give up,’ and to the south: ‘Keep not back, bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth;
Omar latsafon teni uleteyman al-tichlay havi'i vanay merachok uvenotay miketseh ha'arets.
אֹמַר לַצָּפוֹן תֵּנִי וּלְתֵימָן אַל־ תִּכְלָאִי הָבִיאִי בָנַי מֵרָחוֹק וּבְנוֹתַי מִקְצֵה הָאָֽרֶץ׃
43:7
Every one that is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, I have formed him, yea, I have made him.’

כֹּל הַנִּקְרָא בִשְׁמִי וְלִכְבוֹדִי בְּרָאתִיו יְצַרְתִּיו אַף־ עֲשִׂיתִֽיו׃
43:8
The blind people that have eyes shall be brought forth, and the deaf that have ears.
Hotsi am-iver ve'eynayim yesh vechershim ve'oznayim lamo.
הוֹצִיא עַם־ עִוֵּר וְעֵינַיִם יֵשׁ וְחֵרְשִׁים וְאָזְנַיִם לָֽמוֹ׃
43:9
All the nations are gathered together, and the peoples are assembled; who among them can declare this, and announce to us former things? Let them bring
their witnesses, that they may be justified; and let them hear, and say: ‘It is truth.’
Kol-hagoyim nikbetsu yachdav veye'asfu le'umim mi vahem yagid zot verishonot yashmi'unu yitnu edeyhem
veyitsdaku veyishme'u veyomeru emet.
כָּֽל־ הַגּוֹיִם נִקְבְּצוּ יַחְדָּו וְיֵאָֽסְפוּ לְאֻמִּים מִי בָהֶם יַגִּיד זֹאת וְרִֽאשֹׁנוֹת יַשְׁמִיעֻנוּ יִתְּנוּ עֵֽדֵיהֶם וְיִצְדָּקוּ וְיִשְׁמְעוּ וְיֹאמְרוּ אֱמֶֽת׃
43:10
Ye are My witnesses, saith the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He; before Me there
was no G-d formed, neither shall any be after Me.
Atem eday ne'um-Adonay ve'avdi asher bacharti lema'an ted'u veta'aminu li vetavinu ki-ani hu lefanay lo-notsar el ve'acharay lo yihyeh.
אַתֶּם עֵדַי נְאֻם־ יְהוָה וְעַבְדִּי אֲשֶׁר בָּחָרְתִּי לְמַעַן תֵּדְעוּ וְתַאֲמִינוּ לִי וְתָבִינוּ כִּֽי־ אֲנִי הוּא לְפָנַי לֹא־ נוֹצַר אֵל וְאַחֲרַי לֹא יִהְיֶֽה׃
