Yom Yerushalayim Yom Yerushalayim (Hebrew)

Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) on the 28th day of Iyar and celebrates the reunification fo Jerusalem during the Six Day War ending 19 years of separation following the War of Independence in 1948.

Many people from all over Israel travel to Jerusalem to show their solidarity with the city. Jerusalem has been the capital city of the Jewish people since the time of King David.

The Chief Rabbinate of Israel has decided that this day should also be marked with the recital of Hallel (psalms of praise), and a longer version of Psukei d'Zimra (the psalms in the earlier part of the morning service).
